What to Pack for a Day on the Water

Are you planning a day out on the water? Whether you're going boating, fishing, or just relaxing in the sun, it's important to pack everything you need for a safe and enjoyable trip. In this video, Jesse from Seattle Boat Company shares some essential items that you should bring with you.

Safety Equipment

First and foremost, safety should always be your top priority when boating. Make sure that you have enough life jackets for everyone on board, a throw cushion, a fire extinguisher, a flare kit and sound-producing device, for example a whistle. There are different styles of life jackets available, so choose one that suits your needs. Jesse recommends having a combination of water sports life jackets and classic orange safety life jackets.

You'll also want to bring ropes and fenders in case you need to tie up to a dock or link up with another boat. This will prevent your boat from drifting away while you're ashore.

Food and Drink

Being out on the water can make you hungry and thirsty, so bring along a cooler filled with water and snacks. Jesse suggests bringing snacks that won't make a mess in the boat. You don't want crumbs and spills all over your deck!

Clothing

Protecting yourself from the elements is crucial when spending time outdoors. Be sure to bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from the glare off the water. It's also a good idea to pack light layers such as a sweatshirt or jacket, as weather conditions can change quickly.

Don't forget to wear a hat to protect your face from harmful UV rays!

Fun Stuff

Finally, don't forget to pack some entertainment! Bring music and games like football or frisbee for some fun while out on the water.

By packing these items, you'll be prepared for anything that comes your way during your day on the water. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and have an amazing time!
